This Sunday, it will be exactly 25 years since Castle Gardens opened its doors for the first time and we will be celebrating hopefully in the sunshine! We first opened during a terrible storm and I remember people coming in for pegs and ties to stop the roofs on their greenhouses and sheds from blowing away. There were just five of us working back in 1987 so it is a real joy to think how far we have come since then as today we have a team of more than 60 and that’s an awful lot of mugs of tea from the tea trolley each day.

We’re thrilled to be celebrating such an important milestone and have already had some wonderful comments from customers wishing us happy birthday. We’ll be starting our celebrations this Sunday with two for one on breakfast and cream teas in the Walled Garden Restaurant and will continue celebrating for the following seven days finishing with a special cake cutting on Saturday 7th April from 10am.
