Julie Haylock collageLast week we received the fantastic news that local garden designer, Julie Haylock, was awarded Gold for her depiction of A. A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh and the Honey Tree at BBC Gardeners’ World Live, which was held at the NEC in Birmingham. Julie’s design, which we sponsored, scooped her the top award in the Beautiful Border category, as well as a Special Achievement Award for the Best Interpretation of a Theme.

This is a wonderful achievement for Julie, who has recently completed a Diploma in Garden Design at Kingston Maurward College, and will be a great boost for her as she starts her career in garden design. Her choice of plants and props were carefully chosen to recreate this classic scene, and I am delighted that her skill and creativity were recognised in this prestigious competition.

Better still, the good news kept coming, as Elle Wilson from Milborne Port, who we also sponsored, was awarded a Silver for her Rudyard Kipling-inspired border design, The Glory of the Garden.
