Earlier this year The Countrymen Club at Rylands Farm near Sherborne contacted us to see if we could help repair a polytunnel that was damaged during the winter storms. We have always admired the work that Rylands Farm does, not least as it is a great demonstration of the physical and mental benefits that come with growing and gardening for us all. So when we were informed about the storm damage, we were only too pleased to be able to donate some materials to help with its repair.

Extreme weather is something that we are witnessing more, and it’s a great reminder how we all need to do our bit to look after our own patch of the planet to try and slow down climate change. After many more months of unsettled weather, the service users have managed to restore their polytunnel, which is a vital space for them to enjoy the outdoors, share past knowledge of plants and reminisce about their own gardens.

We look forward to seeing what they grow this summer.
