Inspiring the next generation to understand the physical, mental and environmental benefits of gardening is a really big part of our ethos, so we are thrilled to be supporting the Skool Beanz Children’s Garden at the Bath & West Show later this month.
Founded by Lara Honnor, after being inspired by Greta Thunberg’s Fridays For Future movement, this children’s gardening club based in Chiltorne Domer, will be highlighting the must-haves for a planet and child friendly garden. These include, no-dig vegetable plots, rainwater collecting and scarecrows, which are important gardening practices to adopt, so to see these being at the forefront of this show garden is really encouraging.
Geum, black eyed Susan and Lupins, as well as Bamboo, Phormium and Heuchera are among the brightly coloured and textured plants that we are donating for some bathtub and dustbin planters as well as hanging baskets and a wildlife garden. The show garden will also feature an arch at the entrance and a work bench in the polytunnel, which the team at Brimsmore is making from recycled timber.
The Skool Beanz Children’s Garden will feature in the Horticultural Village at the Bath & West Show in Shepton Mallet from Thursday 30 May to Saturday 1 June 2024 and we wish them all the best of luck.
