Green fingers, green hearts

United by a commitment to green spaces and the wider community, our team of experts includes, indoor and outdoor plant enthusiasts, lepidopterists and wildlife warriors ready to inspire, educate and engage with gardeners of all ages and levels of expertise.

Mike and Louise Burks founded The Gardens Group when they opened Castle Gardens in 1987 after graduating from the University of Bath with degrees in Horticulture.

Castle Gardens

Home to thousands of plants all year round, some of which are grown on site, Castle Gardens is situated in the original walled kitchen garden of Sherborne Castle Estate and has blossomed into a vibrant garden centre at the heart of the local community. The team works regularly with schools, charities and community groups to help raise awareness of their vital initiatives, while also promoting interest in gardening along the way.

Brimsmore Gardens

Since opening in 1992, Brimsmore Gardens has become renowned for its extensive range of plants, inspirational displays and friendly customer service, as well as an impressive line-up of high-profile guest speakers. Guided by The Gardens Group’s founding principles, the team regularly immerses itself within the local community, teaming up with schools and local groups to maintain the green spaces around Yeovil and inspire the next generation of gardeners.

Poundbury Gardens

Opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2006, Poundbury Gardens brings a hive of horticultural activity to the centre of Poundbury, standing beside the iconic Queen Mother statue in the town centre. Staying true to The Gardens Group’s deep-rooted ethos, the team at Poundbury Gardens works hard to inspire tomorrow’s gardeners to embrace the great outdoors and enjoy the physical and mental health benefits on offer, while also helping to protect the environment and wildlife.
